Great little place. I thought twice about it since it is in a shopping center close to a gas station but this little hole in the wall was a great surprise. Awesome service. Everything we ordered was fresh. Very generous portions. Tuna tataki, LL roll and fried cheese cake were all excellent. Definitely planning on returning.

I don't understand how people can eat here. Maybe they just inexperienced when it comes to sushi but this place is terrible. I went one time and I couldn't stand it. The sushi tasted old and very rubbery. The people working there were extremely rude.. After moving to Cooper city I spoke to some friends and they kept telling me how good this places so I tried it again for the second time. The minute you walk in your overhauled by the smell of fish. Any good sushi place will not have a fishy smell. Eating at some of the best sushi places like Nobu and Bond Street, I am very aware of how fish is supposed to smell and taste! I Understand it Cooper city and you can't expect much but I rather drive the extra mile and go to Weston to A better sushi place. Avoid at all costs. Fish smells very fishy is very rubbery and the staff is extremely rude.

Always a good experience, all around! Not mind blowing, but usually where our sushi fix is taken care of!

I have a bag of mixed feelings about this place. It most certainly not terrible but there were little quirks that bothered me and some that were pleasing. So I'd say it really should be 3.5 stars, with the possibility of moving up to 4 stars on the next visit (I'll explain why later). I always like to hear bad news first and then good later. Service was unattentive and cold. No greeting, no smile just what do you want, here's your food, here's the bill, no thank you. I'm used to not getting the best service at mom and pop Asian restaurants but I was never made slightly uncomfortable before. She also didn't split the check which was annoying. On to the good. When you are first seated you are given a hot towel, which is a nice touch. They also give you an amuse bouche of noodles. Fish tasted fresh. My friend said this sushi is much better than most sushi places she has tried in Miami! I unfortunately did not get a roll but chirashi, which was ok. Maybe if I requested ell sauce or spicy mayo on top it would have been better as it was bland. The fish/sashimi was cut thick and the gave a generous portion of salmon, tuna, escolar and what I think was yellowtail. I'm sure if I had gotten the sushi rolls I would have bumped this to a 4 despite the service. Will try again and see if I have a better experience then!

Consistently good. I have been to this location several times, but I haven't quite had the words to review it. I finally decided my recommendation is consistently good. It's not awesome, but very good. It's a solid choice for sushi and sashimi. I have had rolls here, and they are very tasty and big, like the tropical roll. While I love that you get more, for me, it's not practical to eat. I like to get all the flavors together, and the roll is just too much for one bite. However, that roll is delicious, and not common. The thing that keeps me coming back here is the sashimi. The fish is fresh, and very tasty, especially the white tuna. I think it was this place that made me really want to start exploring other Sushi restaurants, and perhaps it's become a new obsession of mine. I am in search of the perfect sushi. Time constraints and travel limitations make this a challenge, but thanks to Sushi Sogo, I will venture out and see what I can find when I can find the time. Since I don't have the means to fly to Japan and meet Jiro, I will keep plugging away here until I find it. For now, my sushi fix is in Cooper City at Sushi Sogo. I must also say that the wait staff at this place will remember you. The server remembered me, and that makes it special when I am trying to forget work for a few minutes for some "me time" at lunch. They get your order to you fast, and everyone there seems to be regulars, which is a good sign. Note on the parking. It's laid out like a perimeter of parking spaces surrounding the building. You may enter on one side or the other, but make sure you check all the way around, as sometimes it's busy and it will appear there are no spaces. They are located closest to where the gas station is, so work your way from there.

The service is excellent. Friendly and always smiling. The sushi is pretty good. Not the best in the world but above average for being in Cooper City. I always enjoy coming here..

This Sushi restaurant was always my favorite until last night - we went there to celebrate my birthday (my choice). We started with a combo plate from the sushi bar "Roll, Roll, Roll" which was ok however the rolls were overstuffed with rice to make up for the reduced quantity of fresh tuna, salmon and eel - The Miso soup was as good as usual, the salad with fresh ginger dressing crisp and cold... then we made the mistake of ordering cooked food from the kitchen! Steak Teriyaki sounded good to my boyfriend (the meat man). When the plate was served, the waitress failed to give us fresh clean plates and remove our sushi used plates even though it was clear that we were sharing a main course... the beef was swimming in a plate of disgusting brown gravy that looked and smelled like it came out of a jar from Publix! There were a few semi cooked chunks of carrots and 4? small mushrooms that looked like they too came from a jar -THE MEAT smelled RANCID!! Was it a Japanese beef stew or steak teriyaki????? Disgusting! The waitress seemed like she couldn't believe we wouldn't accept it - we should have left then but the waitress convinced us to try something else - Combination Tempura with fish, shrimp, chicken and vegetables was suggested.... waited forever (30 min) when we were THE ONLY customers in the restaurant!! and when the "tempura" came to our table it was lukewarm and heavy with grease - much more tempura batter than anything else -It was served with a bowl of lukewarm dipping liquid that tasted like watered down beef bouillon! DID the original owners sell this restaurant? WHAT happened to Sushi So Go???

I had been going to this restaurant for years. Last year both my daughter and i had Salmon Sashimi. My daughter thought it was not up to their standards and did not eat it, I on the other hand ate mine and felt ill for days. After many months of not going back, last night we decided to try it. The Sushi was fine but the owners attitude is horrendous. He argued with me months ago that the salmon was fine and no one else got sick. Yesterday, he did the same. What happened to the customer is always right. Thats it. Never going back!

The appeal of this place is lost on me, but my super-picky and impossible-to-please bf loved it so the 3 stars is an average of the 2 of us. The miso was okay. The rolls were bigger than I like. I also prefer more creative rolls, drizzled with sauces, etc.

I've been to a lot of sushi places in my days and this one is up there. The sushi is delicious. I order to go and have someone pick it up for us very often for the office. We recently just went and ate inside here last week too (three of us had about 8 rolls and warm sake and cold sapporos, not bad at all for a 2 hour Friday 200 dollar lunch). Very cozy spot, service good too. My favorite rolls are the s&p roll and the dragon roll. So good. I actually had it for lunch again today!

Worse sushi restaurant I have ever been too!!! Beware. I ordered the ceviche & they had it floating in fake lemon juice completely raw!!! For starters my family is Peruvian so uh no... That's not ceviche... Not even close. Then the rolls were huge but on the rice side not the filling. They all fell apart as I picked up each piece with chopsticks. On top of everything... The server tried convincing me that the ceviche was fresh & authentic. Never never again!!!!

I liked this restaurant. It was a small sushi restaurant. The service was great but the sushi was just okay. I thought it was great that they brought hot towels and a little noodle bowl. It was nice touch! I ordered the key west roll, salmon skin roll, and eel roll. They were actually rather large and hard to eat.

The waitress came over asked for drink orders. We had to request menus then waited about 15 minutes and still no sign of a waitress. In addition there is a crying baby, seriously thinking of leaving.

The food here is horrible!!!! The teriyaki chicken is grilled chicken with teriyaki glazed on it..I would not recommend this restaurant.

We have eaten here several times. The food is good. The waitresses are nice. The sake could be better but it is a great little place nearby in Cooper City to get some sushi. We will definitely continue to come here!

Still best and freshest sushi in the area. Service is sometimes too over the top. The woman greeting is so loud. They sometimes take plate too fast. TV station that they always play is stupid. Please address. Keep sushi the same.

I was a little scared because this place is situated behind a gas station in a tiny little strip mall. My partner and I signed our lease last night and decided to celebrate in our new neighborhood, and this was the closest thing to come up. You go inside and it's super divey, so I was immediately in love. The staff was very attentive, and we noticed that quite a few people were going inside just for takeout, and the staff knew them by name! There is a TV above the sushi bar, and America's Funniest Home Videos was on WGN (like, the Bob Saget era) so we had some laughs with the sushi chefs. The food was delicious. The rolls were VERY big, and SO good! The Banana Roll and Key West Roll were to die for. I think this might be our new date spot. :)

First visit, Monday late lunch. No customers when I arrived but soon after several tables and a few to go orders arrived. Service was good, polite, quick. Rolls are large so I feel I got good value. Appetizer was good size and with good flavor. Definitely will return.

I consider this our "go to" restaurant. My girlfriends always meet up here, usually on weeknights or Friday nights for good conversation and good food. I like that they give us hot towels and noodles. The service is usually pretty good... some of the staff are nicer than others. The food is great. It's always fresh, and I've never had an issue with my orders. I do take-out a lot too and never had a problem. I like that the staff remembers us and usually remembers what we like to eat/drink.

Sushi sogo has been on my radar for a while as it is only one of few local sushi restaurants and has pretty solid reviews on yelp. Although this place is located adjacent to a gas station do not let this fool you. Last night we went with a group of 4 and everything was spot on. We ordered the boat for four ($89) which included 20 pieces of sashimi, about 20 pieces of sushi, a rainbow roll, mini tuna tataki, and an assortment of tuna rolls and other small rolls. It also came with 2 soups and 2 salads. Our party also had warm sake, cold sake, and beers. They were very friendly and did not charge for any extra sauces. I would highly recommend this place for a local sushi joint!

I have lived right around the corner from this restaurant for about 16 years now. I will admit I was a little apprehensive about ever trying this place out simple because it is about 10 steps away from a gas station. Upon finally trying this place out, I was completely blown away. As soon as you walk in, you can simply smell the freshness! It is a very small place but this little gem is packed with great service, creative rolls, and fresh flavors. This is the best tasting sushi I've ever experienced! I also love their clear soup. If i had to choose one thing to live off of for the rest of my life, it would be their clear soup! I am so sad that I've missed out on so many years with enjoying this place! My only (minor) complaint is that the rolls tend to be a tad too big making it flimsier and hard to pick up and eat. Not a make it or break it thing for me though. With food this delicious, its hard to complain. Sushi sogo, I love you!

The sushi was delicious - though the rolls are really large and difficult to eat. My problem here was the service - one of the rolls I ordered was not as expected and when I asked about it the waitress was very hostile - two waitresses and both sushi chefs argued with me about the roll - it was uncomfortable and very unprofessional. The customer is always right! They did not fuss about taking the roll off the bill but they were all just so rude. Will not be coming back except maybe for takeout.

Very good! The service was very friendly and welcoming. Loved the s&p roll. But some rolls, like the tropical, are very big and hard to manage in one bite. Would recommend it still for all of you to try it.

Nice quiet place but the food was not special. We had the Phad Thai with tofu and it was watery and flavorless. Also the tuna roll was very basic.

Have been going here since they have opened. In not a big sushi guy and they have other things that work for me, cooked and also soups. They now have a Thai menu too. Things are pretty consistent with the service and how busy they are. They also do a good take out service.

We order delivery from Sushi Sogo about once a week. The delivery is always fast, the drivers are friendly, and the sushi is delicious. I highly recommend the tropical roll. They also have a tiny portion of the menu dedicated to Thai, and the curries are all good, as is the coconut milk soup. Overall very good, but especially so for delivery.

1 Question. award for best sushi in Davie and Copper City? but there are only 3 places in the area. This was by far the worst sushi I ever had. Warning dont pick up the menu. It stinks of mildew. That alone should have made me walk out. I am allergic to tuna. 90% of the rolls have tuna. they wanted 25% more to replace the tuna with anything else. I suggest eating at McDonalds before this place. Btw, dont look at the light switch plate on the wall. It hasnt been cleaned since 1960. I would give it minus 5 stars if it was allowed

Terrible delivery. Woman on the phone was difficult to understand, asked for what I said 5 times and then hung up on me. How rude! Seeing that it says the noise is quiet is incorrect. Called them their background was so loud and noisy. Sushi was okay. But not again. What's cute is that they named their sushi funny names.

This is my go to neighborhood sushi restaurant and has been for years. Excellent staff and the food is always fresh. If you live close by they deliver, how can you beat that!

Still best and freshest sushi in the area. Service is sometimes too over the top. The woman greeting is so loud. They sometimes take plate too fast. TV station that they always play is stupid. Please address. Keep sushi the same.

What I liked: Ginger dressing was delicious and was kind of sweet The did not burn their green tea Good service What I did not like: The restaurant smelled VERY fishy, because of this I did not not order any sushi. I do not know if the fishy smell was a reflection of the quality of their fish, or that they do not clean the fish tank enough. Needless to say, I did not want to find out. My family got the pad thai and said that it was okay but a bit tasteless, and I got the yaki soba noodles and they were alright. Yeah, I probably spelled those wrong. Would I come back? Probably not. There are places closer to me that are much better.

READ THIS FIRST: The interior is unimperessive but clean and acceptable, except for the faded signage on the door and the torn up window tint. I had 4 handrolls. They were done very well and the nori was nice and crispy. The fish seemed a cut above. It even appeared to be big eye but I think it was just abnormaly dark yellowfin based on taste. The rolls were formend well and the rice was nice and light. All above average. I wont say artistry or love, but care and pride were taken with the food. The presumed owner was not happy with me ordering hand rolls. Not sure why, he seemed very short. He was very welcoming to everyone that sat at the sushi bar or said hello. Service was an issue in the lenght of time anything took. Except the lady pouring water, she was spot on! Several tables were waiting for things and had to ask more than once. It took me about 20 minutes to get and pay for the check. Would I go back? Yes. Would I go out of my way? No.

We recently moved to the area and were very excited to try this place. The person who took our order was great and the delivery guy was friendly but that's where the positive experience ended. The sushi fell apart before we were able to eat it, very poorly rolled. The miso had no flavor. We won't be eating here again.

Small restaurant tucked away in a small kind of odd shopping center. Sushi is consistently good. Service is always good, comparable to other neighborhood sushi joints. Went on a Friday night for dinner around 7:15. By 8pm the restaurant was packed so definitely try to get there early. Ordered your typical sushi and rolls (CA, JB, spicy tuna). Was good for basic rolls. Also had a green lady roll which was really good - white fish with scallions and it had seaweed salad on top. If I had to voice a dislike it would be that the roll pieces are cut a tad too big for my comfort and liking. Bottom line: Give this little place a try, but go early and try to get a booth.

Best sushi in this area! There really is no good sushi in this area (Davie/Cooper City). I'm glad I found sushi sogo. I recommend the Mexican roll, dragon roll and banana roll. Summer eve is good too. Don't love the tuna roll in the lunch special. A little too much rice overall and rolls sometimes fall apart, but that doesn't bother me. Delivery man is really friendly and nice!! I would definitely recommend this place for your sushi fix!!

Sushi Sogo is truly hit or miss. I think they have a good selection of fish and some unique rolls which is always appreciated. I've had a toasted bagel roll, a veggie roll, and a yellowfin roll. It is decent sushi, nothing spectacular. But what IS spectacular about Sogo is that they DELIVER SUSHI! Based on this point alone, will be ordering from Sogo again, even though it's just mediocre.

Not impressed. You will notice all the recent reviews on Yelp say this place has gone downhill. Well, I missed that and just read the overall rating. Needless to say, this was the worst sushi I've had in a LONG time. The eel was dry and tasted old, and the spicy tuna roll was made by adding hot sauce to the rice at the end rather than blending the tuna with the spice (I HATE THAT!). My wife had the teriyaki chicken, and for her it was nearly inedible. I'm giving this 2 stars only because we did not get sick, so presumably the place is clean at least. But for flavor, presentation, and satisfaction, proceed elsewhere.

I recommend the crunchy salmon roll and I've tried them all. My kids like going there, it's a great family place. The service could step it up a bit, but then again there's a language barrier. You say potAto, they say potatO... food is good by all means.

Had a craving for Japanese today and was driving east on Stirling. So I stopped for a bite before my next appointment. Ordered the lunch special of Salmon Teriyaki. I got the Miso Soup. It was barely warm. The salmon was a good sized portion and flaky. One tiny little floret of steamed broccoli, 4 steamed carrot sticks, and a small leaf of raw curly kale accompanied the fish. Oh, and there were 5 tiny button mushrooms on the plate drizzled with the sauce. If I go back, I'll try one of the rolls. Perhaps I'll enjoy the food more..

Flavorful and generous portions. We were a party of 7 and tried a variety: sushi, stir fry, Thai, tempura, soups, soba. Loved it all and had wonderful service! Koi fish tank at the entrance was lovely but the restaurant had no other ambience. What it lacked in atmosphere was overcome by food and service.

I stopped in to eat this evening. Instead of sushi, I ordered their chicken udon dish. It was probably one of the worst chicken udon dinners I have ever eaten. The chicken was room temp at best when it was served. The rest of the dish was totally bland...almost flavorless. I would have returned it, but the waitress gave me such a hard time when my daughter returned her California roll---which tasted very odd, that I decided to 'suck it up'. I will NEVER GO BACK.

I have to say Sushi Sogo, you have won my heart! Shibui is one of my favorite Sushi places in Miami and I have never found one near Pembroke Pines that I truly love. FINALLY...I met Sushi Sogo. I tried the Chicken Pad Thai, it was good but not great, but who cares! The sushi was awesome. The JB Rolls were huge and the salmon was fresh. My mom had a meal that came with a Rainbow Roll and 5 pieces of sushi & a seaweed salad. I tried one of the pieces of her rainbow roll that had salmon on top, it was not only really big but so was the piece of salmon on top of the roll, and it was extremely fresh. The seaweed salad was also fresh and each meal came with a soup and a salad. I will definitely be going again so that I can introduce you to my boyfriend =) Finally now I have a place to go when Im in Hollywood, and a place to go in Miami. Life can't get better then this!

Okay, so this is an update to my past review. It obviously was a bad experience. But I have put tht behind me and tried this place a few times after. Service seems alot friendlier, and very attentive. But the food outweighs everything. I have never had rolls that are so packed with fresh fish and lots of rice. Theyre the biggest rolls I have ever had, this is the reason decided to do an update. I also tried the spicy tuna for the first time and it was amazing. I would now recommend you try this place. The food won't disappoint. Rolls= size of your head.

The sushi was just ok, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. We have a small child. We had to wait a very long time to be seated. We had to wait an even longer time to be served and I had to ask for more water at least 3 times.

I really enjoy this restaurant! Though I may be a BIT biased! I love the Kinky Eel roll, super fresh salmon sashimi, Pokemon roll, Mexican rolls and the FRIED CHEESECAKE is the BEST! You have to have it! They also have the best tasting katsudon by far... but maybe I don't eat it enough! =-P

I have to tell you, Cooper City, Florida (it is most definitely NOT in Hollywood as Yelp is listing) is not the place where you'd go looking for good sushi, but if you happen to stumble upon Sushi Sogo then you're in luck. Though I've been having California sushi for years now (as this is where I now live, though I occasionally make it back to what I affectionately call the Coop), Sushi Sogo still remains one of my favorite sushi locations anywhere. I've never had anything beyond the rolls (the shrimp tempura and L.L. being my favorites) because they're the first thing I ever had and I liked them so much that I could never (nor did I want to) venture beyond. The salad is also really good - it's just an iceberg lettuce salad, but the ginger dressing is amazing! Prices are reasonable (and an 8 piece sushi roll is hearty...if you don't have a huge appetite, that and a salad should be enough), the atmosphere is nice and the service is good. It's also great for take out.

This is my first review so please be gentle! After searching for a Sushi restaurant around Davie i finally decided to go for Sushi Sogo. Why? Mainly because it has gotten a few good reviews and because it is close by. The ambiance of Sushi Sogo is very tranquil which was suprisingly quite nice. I was greeted with a menu of a plethora of choice. They have EVERYTHING, from curries to yakisoba to sashimi. I am originally from California where a good sushi place is just right around the corner and i have to say that Sogo's sushi is just a little better than average. I ordered the Rainbow roll which was presented nicely however the rice or something in the roll was far too pickled for my liking. I actually do not think i have ever had a Rainbow roll with such a pickled taste to it. I then ordered the Key West roll which is essentially a dynamite roll with conch on top. I was trying to pinpoint the reason why it just did not taste like the sushi from California and the only explanation i can mutter up is the imitation crab that was used. The imitation crab used in California has a hint of mayonnaise to it whereas the crab inside of Sogo's rolls didnt have that taste at all, in fact...i didnt taste any kind of mayonnaise at all. The one thing that i LOVED at Sogo was there Sumimono salad that i had. It was to die for! It had thinly sliced cucumbers with octopus, shrimp, scallops, and a delicious kim chi sauce on top. The blending of the flavors mixed in with the texture of the cumcumbers was perfection! So all in all i think Sogo Sushi is a little better than your average sushi place, but after doing the research it seems as though sushi places in Florida tend to be mediocre when compared to other places in the nation.

There are a couple good sushi bars in Cooper City and the surrounding areas but none compare to Sushi Sogo. Yeah it is my #2 pick of all my favorite sushi places but my number one is way in coral gables so i have no problem settling. They have a very good ginger salad. it actually took me awhile to get used to it because im used to a savory ginger dressing and this one is sweet. Also i am not one for traditional japanese food like udon and such but im all about sushi rolls and they have a great selection. Ill basically try any roll they have but my all time favorite is the pokemon roll... yes i know and it took me a good 2 weeks to order it out of sheer embaressment but i loved it its basically a huge shrimp tempura roll with lettuce and cucumber with crab laid on top of it with eel sauce. its simple easy and oh so good. For a limited time from what they said til february they have these amazing special rolls. there is a stone crab roll that has to be one of my favorite rolls of all time. A jumping shrimp roll served with coconut sauce and for desert how can you go wrong with thai donuts. The prices are reasonable the portions are huge and once you go there a couple times they start to know you by name what more could you need?

Sushi Sogo delivers very high quality sushi at a reasonable price in suburban Cooper City. Personally, I think that Sogo outperforms all of Chicago's myriad pricey restaurants, with fresher fish and more creativity. The key west roll (dynamite topped with hot spicy conk) and banana rolls are to die for, as are the miso garlic salad dressing (which I've actually picked up the bowl and drank, and no I'm not proud of that), and the insanely decadent cheesecake tempura. The atmosphere is charming with a cool fish tank and some Japanese style seating. Friendly service rounds out this winner.
